By signing up, installing, or using Be Kind you accept these terms.

1. Purpose

Be Kind is an educational parental-control tool that helps reduce the use of bad language through warnings and temporary screen locks configured by an adult.

2. Authorized use

• You must be of legal age and the parent or legal guardian of the minor, or otherwise legally authorized to supervise the computer.
• You may only install Be Kind on devices you own or have legal authority over.
• You are responsible for informing the minor that the tool is active.

3. Prohibited use

• Using Be Kind to monitor adults without their knowledge, employees, or any person you have no legal right to monitor.
• Using it for harassment, spying, or any unlawful activity.
• Misuse is the sole responsibility of the user.

4. Microphone

The tool requires continuous microphone access to work. By accepting, you authorize that use for the described purpose. Processing is local (see Privacy Policy).

5. 14-day free trial, billing and cancellation

When you start the 14-day free trial:

• To begin the trial you must register a payment method (card). This is required to activate the subscription when the trial ends.
• No charge is made during the 14 days. You get full access to the app.
• If you do not cancel before the 14 days end, you authorize the chosen subscription to start automatically when the trial ends, with the first charge and subsequent recurring charges per the plan (monthly or annual) until you cancel.
• You may cancel at any time, including during the trial, from the subscription management link (included in your confirmation email) or by contacting support. If you cancel before the 14 days end, no charge is made.
• On cancellation you keep access until the end of the period already paid; no partial refunds of the current period are made unless required by law.

6. Plans, pricing and renewal

• We offer subscription plans (monthly and annual) and a lifetime license option (one-time payment).
• Current prices are shown on the website / point of sale.
• Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period (monthly or annual) using the registered payment method, until you cancel.
• You will receive your activation serial by email. Non-payment may limit configuration features after a grace period; monitoring may remain active depending on the version.

7. Payments and billing

Payments are processed by a third-party provider (e.g. LemonSqueezy) acting as merchant of record, which handles taxes and payment data. Be Kind does not store your full card details.

8. Limitation of liability

• Be Kind is provided "as is", with no guarantee of perfect detection. Speech recognition may produce false positives or negatives.
• We are not liable for locks at inconvenient times, loss of unsaved work, or parenting decisions resulting from use.
• The lock freezes the screen; it does not shut down the machine or close programs, but the user must use judgment (not on critical machines).

9. Legal compliance

The user is responsible for complying with the laws of their jurisdiction regarding monitoring, privacy, and protection of minors (e.g. COPPA, GDPR, or others).

10. Changes

These terms may be updated. The current version is published on the website and included with each software release.
